I understand that English is not the official language of the United States, yet many states have chosen to have an official language. Why is that?

It’s usually political. California’s official language is English, yet it offers most of its public services in anywhere from 5 – 15 different languages. I think making English the official language was just to make some people feel like they weren’t being "invaded."
it is moronic to have one language.
I live in Miami ( very influential to the world) My community speak 37 languages every day of the Year. that made Us very powerful community ( cultural and in economics).
every time the United Nations Implement a reform to improve Internationals relationships ,We in Miami had those already established from Years ago.
