What is the best way to distract your thoughts when someone makes you mad?

Whenever someone makes me mad I tend to dwell and dwell and dwell on it till it makes my heart pound though my BACK!!! Whats the best way to counter this when nothing seems to work? Thank you incidently I’m happy right now but this is for the future and hope it helps you too :) Happy Labor day!!!

    I don’t know if it’s the "best" way, but what usually works for me is picturing myself tomorrow or next year, and how little it will all matter then. And explain to myself precisely why I have a right to feel angry; and if I was partly at fault, admit to myself that I am and just accept it. (I get the most worked up when part of my anger is at myself)

    Think quick about a compliment you received that made you happy. Also it is O>K> to be slow to anger. But remember if you let go of your emotions it will hurt you in the end.

    This is actually a form of a game. Whoever shows anger is the loser. Children do this to their parents all the time to get their way. You must remain cool almost aloof. Total indifference. Don’t feel you have to respond at all. Sometimes silence and indifference allow you to prevail.

    I always thought people who try to get you angry are bullys and their motivation is an enjoyment of being mean.

    I usally sit down and write or type a letter that practically spills out everything I’m fuming about on paper and let them have it. Then I take the letter and burn it. Nobody knows what I feel or what I said, but me.
