How much does it cost to play World of Warcraft?

I’m interested in playing World of Warcraft and I was wondering how much the monthly fee is? I heard you could pay month by month, once every 3 months and once a year. How much does it cost for each payment plan?
Also what is and what does a World of Warcraft patch do?

You can pay for 1 month for 15$ 2 months for 30$ and 6 months for around 70$. The 1 month and 2 month you can buy a prepaid card at a wal mart. The 6 month has to be done with a banking account or if you talk to a GM you could get 2 years paid. You have to buy the orginal wow then the expansion which is the burning crusade and sense wraith of the lich king is coming out next week you have to buy that as well. Patches are to improve the game and for wow they are not optional to download. As of lately i heard you no longer need a credit card to open and account.

$15 a month, lopping off about a dollar or two per month if you buy one of the longer subscriptions.

    Quoted:

After their initial free one-month (30 day) subscription ends, players of World of Warcraft are able to continue playing under one of three different subscription plans.

    – $14.99 per month for a month-to-month recurring subscription
    – $13.99 per month for a 3-month recurring subscription *
    – $12.99 per month for a 6-month recurring subscription *

    * Please note that the 3-month and 6-month subscriptions must be paid in full at the beginning of the billing cycle.

Payment methods we accept for subscription fees are credit cards issued in the regions specified for launch (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina.)

We accept the following major Credit Cards in addition to the other options below.

    Visa
    MasterCard
    Discover
    American Express

    Alternate Payment Methods:

    PayPal
    Prepaid Game Card
    PaymentOne

We realize that some customers would like to play World of Warcraft but do not have access to the payment methods detailed above. While we have no timeframe on when additional options will become available, we are currently looking to expand our list of options to provide better support for our customers.

Side Note: For the 3 and 6 month plans they bill you the total every 3 or 6 months (depending on your plan).

    My two brothers have accounts.
You have to buy the CD, then you have to pay around $15-$20 per month to keep your account running. Thats all I know.

What i do is i go to Wal-Mart and buy the 60 day game card for $30 (but thats only because i dont want my identity to be stolen) that equals $15 a month which is good if you dont have a credit card either.

-im pretty sure that the only available card is the 60 day card, but your could look into this if you interested-

15 a month… if you buy a game card its a bit more expensive.
