  • Long John Silver says:

When you install World of Warcraft, install the base game first, then install the Burning Crusade expansion, then get online and download and install the patches. The current patch is 3.2, but the version number for Burning Crusade will be lower than this. If you install all of the patches before you install the Burning Crusade expansion, the BC files will overwrite the patch, and you will then have to reinstall all of the patches between your BC version and version 3.2. – LJS

The patches download automatically when your first try to log on.

  • Hakomar says:

If you are downloading the patches, then you can’t play the game until they have finished downloading.

It should download the patches automatically. Speaking from personal experience though, if you buy it online and download it, it does take quite a while, even with a pretty fast internet connection.

If you have World of Warcraft and Burning Crusade installers do this :

    1) Install World of Warcraft then press "exit" when it is done, do not press "play" yet.

    2) Install Burning Crusade. Then you can press "play". Doing this will shorten the patching time.

The patching will take at least a day, 24 hours, but you have to check up on it once in a while to press "play" etc so that the patching can continue.
