What are good professions for the death knight to do in World of Warcraft?
My husband is a death knight in the World of Warcraft game. What professions would be good for his character? He uses unholy and frost skills and the standard death knight night clothing and weapons.
He was thinking about mining and engeneering. Would this be a good combo?

My DK is doing mining and engineering (up around 375ish now) and I am really happy with that choice. If you have the patience to get the skill up – i used a guide – if you don’t bag space can become a nightmare.
I had maxed engineering (gnomish) with my Priest and loved the little trinkets, got a ton of use out of the teleport ones. Tho I never used the bombs much so now I am going Goblin to add to my DPS.
A good page for comparison for gnomish vs. goblin is http://www.wowwiki.com/Engineering_guide
Good luck! I have a blast with my DK especially in PVP! and I am also Unholy/Frost
Really any profession works now, because each has its own perks for any type of dps now. Although mine is BS and mining. BS can add extra gem sockets to items now. Enchanting would be good too, because you can enchant your own rings. Even LW would be nice, for the easy armor kit mats and the bracer enhancements are siiick.
And yeah engineering is alright. Great crafted goggles. Also, coolest mount in the game
Mining and engineering seem cool.. But if he wants he could do others like skinning and enchanting but these ones are kinda girly.. Mining and engineering must be awesome since theres a lot to do in there.. Good luck.. An have fun.. Oh and if he’s on moonrunner let him add me.. My character is yearofevil death knight blood elf.. anyways yeah have fun..
mining is good; he’s frost so he’ll likely be tanking raids and mining increases his max health.
i have a tank engineer, but i don’t get much of a chance to use engineer toys when I’m tanking. Blacksmith is a better choice because you can make your own armor.
Mining is among the most profitable professions available right now, and compliments both engineering and blacksmithing. The ore and gems are selling really well right now.
As your husband levels his character, you will find that engineering only results in one item that is usable at maximum level gearwise, a headpiece. It has some other fun items, like special mounts, but nothing that will affect how good the character is.
Blacksmithing has epic weapons and armor for the DK to use in many slots, and unless he plans on raiding the top level raids, the epic armor and weapons he can make will serve him well. There will also be upcoming recipies for blacksmithing as new content is released that should put the blacksmith far ahead in terms of useful gear they can craft.
I would go black smiting jewel crafting personally. With jewel crafting you will be able to socket your items with 3 of the best jewels in the game, you will also be eligible to do a daily for a token. The token can get you a gem which you can use or sell for a good amount of money 250g on my server, which isnt bad for 10 minutes if you have an epic flyer. You also able to craft jewel crafter only trinkets. With black smiting you will be able to add more sockets to your items for those extra stats of your choosing whether it be resilience for pvp or strength for dps, or stam for tanking.
These are two very expensive choices, but you will profit from them very much if you are able to max them. Jewel crafting will probably pay for its self in a few of its dailies. I would recommend getting another character with mining, that is what I do.
That’s really all about preference. What does he want to do? Mine is simply a miner/herbalist since it is most profitable at the moment and I have another toon that does skinning to go with her leatherworking. It’s all about what he wants to gain from the upper ranks of each profession. Though I’d recommend farming the points and items to skill them up before going through outlands/northrend. You can atleast get some exp once they start catching up to your level.
Mining and engineering is a very good combo, because it makes you a lot of $$$, you can fund another char with it or your deathknight
I, myself do mining and blacksmithing. I am a Tauren and thought about going herbalism, for the racial increase. Look at racial abilities, maybe that will help
Draenei – +5 jewelcrafting
Gnomes – +15 engineering
Blood Elves – +10 enchanting
Tauren – +15 herbalism
If he is one of the previous races, he may consider one of the those, but really whatever he wants to be.
