How did we arrive at the Twilight vampires? Vampires and werewolves used to be see as scary creatures, now they are sexy??? I mean I loved New Moon and thought Jacob and Edward were totally sexy but what made movie producers and authors think to make vampire like that and not like how they used to be?? and don’t say creative things!

Well they aren’t all Twilight bound (True Blood has a cult like following and they are not sparkly little types).
It’s been around for years… Back in the 80’s there was The Lost Boys, in the 90’s there was Interview with a Vampire, Buffy and Angel took off and now we’ve had Moonlighting, True Blood and Twilight.

there was a show on not too long ago–i forget the name–where the guy was a reluctant one. that might have started it. there was also brad pitt in interview with a vampire who didn’t want to be. plus, there is the marketing and money that keeps them doing more.

I don’t but, the teenage girls want to dream and live anywhere but where they are right now. They want an escape and this is what the story writers know. Thus writing a romance mixed with blood lust seems to intrigue the youth today. They for the most part don’t believe in religion and want to defy their parents rules, and see these former evil things as good and loving and romantic. The vampires of today live their fantasies and dangerous lives. You will see that in the next 5 years the vampire wannabes will most likely try it and realize it wasn’t really like the movie that it is sick and they don’t want to be pin cushions or catch diseases and it will phase out again. Some might become freaks. Either way it’s just an example of what movies can do to influence the sheeple.

Even the earliest vampire stories had a sexual aspect (with all the negligees and blood-sucking). Over the years, with the emancipation of women and the resultant recognition that women actually liked sex, the vamps changed from predators to prey. Recently, this has led to Dark Shadows (soap opera) – Buffy/Angel (teen romance) – Interview With The Vampire (gothic queens) and finally Twilight, with its sparkly, bloodless, wimp vampires.

Vampire stories used to be gruesome and stuff. And they used to look like goblins kind of. But as time evolved, so did our minds. Once you put the pieces together aobut sexy vampires and their prey, it all works out. Like Edward Cullen said in Twilight:
"Everything about me invites you in. My voice, my face, even my smell…" Their so called sexinest is to attract their human prey. think about it. To be a butt ugly vampire…it would be difficult for you to attract humann prey. lol
Also…Hollywood made it happen baby.

To make more stupid money! Cause if vampires and werewolves and *sexy* then more girls are gonna like it and probably bring their boyfriends to see it to. Plus most things in life seem to have something to do with sex or end up ending with sex. I hate it because it made the real werewolves and vampires look weaker and… sparkle…. wtf is up with that. However now its easier for the male vampires and werewolves to get more girls lol. Even though I never really new them having a problem with that. Same problem most other people would have

some woman in Utah wrote a book, I’m not into it myself, I prefer the Carpathian folklore.

Vampires were always a metaphor for plague; now they are a metaphor for the modern day plague; AIDS. Sex and death have become linked in our minds and the vampire has become the subconcious symbol of this dicotomy.

Well I get what your saying I didn’t like Twilight but I suppose they heard of a story about the Quliete tribe and they did a little research on them amd noticed they were wolf worshipers and in mythological stories the natural enemy for the wolf is a vampire
