Why do people sit by while horrible stuff happens in the world?
For example, how did people just sit around and LET the Holocaust happen and mass murders and all the persecution in the world? Why doesn’t anyone SAY something?

The guards in the Nazi death camps were over 90% Christian (mostly Lutheran and RC), and Christian religious services were held regularly in death camps. Death camp duty was voluntary and very popular as staff were unlikely to get killed or injured. The were other perks, like the sexual slavery of non-Jewish woman prisoners. This was the last major mass killing of Jews by Christians in a series that date backs to at least 414CE (Alexandria Egypt). Until recent times, Jewish and Christian, minorities were safe and protected in Islamic countries, but there have been many mass murders of Jews in most Christian countries of the old world, and most of these were instigated by clerics or monks. Was the motive for these crimes a Christian perception that the Jews murdered Christ? Was it because the Jews refused to accept Christ or is there some other reason? There is a tendency to blame the Nazi’s for the holocaust but this apologist stance ignores the facts that most Nazi’s were Christian and the Christian tradition of murdering Jews goes went back over 1500 years.

answerers keep ignoring the fact that Most Nazi’s were Christians
There were were antisemitic pogroms in nearly all old world Christian countries they just weren’t called pogroms until recently
pundits are now saying that this will hurt relations with the vital ally Turkey.
does this mean that the 1915 genocide should not be condemned for political gain and expedience?
perhaps if Germany complained about the bad image the holocaust has given them we should rescind our condemnation of it?
how can you justify NOT condemning acts of genocide and mass murder, just for political ends?

if the right thing had been done in 1915 and the issue addressed then the democrats wouldn’t be able to take political advantage of the situation. since our congress can’t seem to force King George to leave Iraq, maybe Turkey can help us get out of Iraq.
nah, i doubt it. we both know that, even if the troops didn’t have food or water, Bush would continue to "support" them so much that he wouldn’t let them leave.
The 20th Century was been plagued by Genocide, Mass Murder and Ethnic Cleansing i need to look for common factors and possible solutions.
First, The Turkish Genocide against the Armenians, The Nazi Holocaust against the Jews, The Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, Ethnic Cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo, Genocide in Rawanda and the Darfur.
I’m doing an essay and I can’t think of any good discriptive words for Holocaust. I don’t want anything like ‘horrible’ or ‘terrible’ or anything related. What I’m thinking of is catastrphe, massacre, mass murder, genocide, or annihilating. Can you think of anything else related to these?
First the apologists accuse you of being anti-Semitic (despite the fact that Palestinians are Semitic too), and if that doesn’t work they invoke the Holocaust. It seems that Israel will be excused any act of mass murder in the name of the Holocaust by some people
I believe all genocide up till today are the same. they all have the same purpose, to kill a group of people. it’s all a big mass murder, and the leaders basically think of a reason to kill them. the only difference is that the Holocaust had a crematory, and there were more people killed. people are being brutally murdered in darfur, and people were brutally killed in rwanda. you tell me, should the nazi’s be called more evil?
I was arguing with my friend who claims that it was not a genocide because according to the dictionary; noun the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group.
So, he’s saying since Native Americans still exist today, it shouldn’t be counted as a genocide. I said you could say the same about the holocaust, and he says that was not a genocide either. Just a mass murder. Can I get some clarification? Thanks.
It still boggles my mind that a mass murder like that could possibly happen in the modern world! It was so awful. I know genocides still occur today too. How and why could something like the Holocaust get so out of control?
Looking at the massacres in africa, the european conflicts, the asian wars and so on, and also the perception of the WWII holocaust, how much time has to pass before these crimes will be excused? The way the crimes and mistreatment of the "american" indigenous has been swept under the rug as "so long ago".
how far back is too far back?if mass murder has a time limit, how much time is it?
