To lose all sympathy and regret what can turn a normal person into a monster? stress? just wondering what make average citizens commit crimes like murder, bank robberys, rape or even hold a prison hostage.
And should he hang for his crimes?

To Be Nice; I’d like to see a source for your claim that a million crimes are prevented per year by guns.
1) the flood — wipe out mankind ( est. 50,000 dead )except for roughly 10 people
2) Sodom and Gomorrah — made it rain sulphur and fire upon the cities ( est. 5,000 dead )
3) death — God has allow mankind to continue to suffer and die from the beginning ( est. 6,000,000,000 dead )

For every Israeili that dies, 10 Palestinian civilians are murdered. The world remains silent. Why should such injustice and crimes be allowed in this so-called civilized world? How do you people sleep at night knowing about the mass-murder of innocent Palestinian men, women and children that happens almost every day? Why is the world doing nothing? Say 100 years from now we make a radical breakthrough in psychotherapy or neurology that allows us to completely remove all the destructive urges of any given psychopath, thus sparing them from the likelihood of committing crimes.
Is it then right to punish the mentally ill in today’s world when it is our failure for not having the means to cure them?
@Holly: I’m referring to sociopaths mostly. Many violent criminals are sociopaths. We send them to prison, not mental institutions.
