How rich do you have to be to get away with murder?
Obviously, depending on how rich someone is, one might not necessarily have to carry out the actual murder. Assume one would still be considered guilty if they payed the assassin, though.
In our "civilized" "1st-world" society (basically meaning some corrupt village leader dictator is not in charge of us), how much money does it take to get away with murder?
I don’t want any philosophical statements on abortion, cooking or eating babies, so restrict this to the killing of adults (people over the age of 18).
I would think there has to be a price on the system. What do you think the cost would be to cover up your tracks (by paying people off either to lie or to just find you innocent; making the murder actually untraceable to you; or, doing something else so that you are not convicted in the end)?
Assume it was not a mass-murder– just a murder of one single, human being. Assume nothing extra happens to the person that would cause people to want to turn you in more or want more money (as in, the body would not be mutilated, raped, or degraded in some other way before or after the death).
Or, do you think there is no price that could get someone off the hook for murder? If so, that’s fine, but could you please give some reasons why you believe the system is infallible in this regard?
I am not talking about the "perfect judicial system", I am talking about the actual one in the actual world. What do you think the price is/ would be?
