I've heard many gun advocates argue that arming everyone would prevent these mass murders. Do you agree?

Do you think Cho Seung-Hui would have been able to murder 32 people had everyone been armed? Do you think the benefits of having everyone armed would be greater than the negatives?

Also, if everyone was armed, do you think "friendly fire" might contribute to an even higher number of deaths, when situations like this arise?

Why is it that mass murders don't occur in other countries?

There are at least two other countries which guarantee the right to bear arms: Switzerland and Israel. Yet neither one has ever seen one of her citizens go on a shooting rampage like we saw in Virginia this week. Why here? Are we as Americans more prone to violence than people from other countries?
Let’s try reading the question, shall we? I’m not talking about terrorism, wars, or individuals held up at gunpoint. I’m talking about some psychopath going into a restaurant, school, dorm, or theatre with a few loaded guns and opening fire. I have never heard of that happening anywhere but here. If you have, please post a link or at least give the basics of the crime.

I think that the media is biased in their coverage, and in return it weighs on viewers sympathy towards the value of life, depending on nationality. These tragic mass murders we have had in the past 10-15 years have come despite more gun control, background checks, etc. They happen in England and other countries too which totally ban guns. So I don’t think guns are the main problem here.

Fifty or 100 years ago you could buy a gun with no questions asked but there were fewer mass murders like we have today.

So what in our society or culture is precipitating the increase in mass murders? I am asking about incidents like Columbine and VT, not domestic violence or violent crime (I think that might be another issue).

What makes a normal average person into a murdering psychopath?

I am not talking about mass murder with gun by some mentally ill person. I am talking about the psycho killer who appear like ordinary student or teacher or staff in the college. How safe is a college campus? How come the college did not check the background of the staff or teacher when they hired them? They asked the students for criminal record when you try to submit the application for admission. Should we the students are allowed to bring loaded gun to protect ourselves? What do you think?
