Why do most people choose to be oblivious to the office psychopath ?
"People see what they want to see, I promise if someone chooses to be oblivious to the wrong kind of person, they will be. This ignorance will build though, and eventually everyone will see what this person is made of."
(terrific info. by rubix110)
You’re not doing yourself any favors choosing to be oblivious.

The office psychopath is the best reason to go to work each and every day. It’s like getting paid to watch a live show!

Because most people just don’t want any trouble at work. Those types of people are generally very volitile anyway. So, they could really cause you a great deal of trouble if you’re not careful.

It started with the "everybody plays" rule in little league baseball. It doesn’t matter if you have the skills to play… your taught not to hurt anybody’s feelings. No winners… no losers! As long as everybody gets their turn, everybody’s happy… right? What a crock!

To avoid conflict and because the boss won’t fire them no matter how much you complain, so why bother.

Most people choose to be oblivious to the office psychopath out of a misguided belief that they can ignore a hurricane and thereby be safe. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The office psychopath is like the yeast in bread. Their negativity gets bigger, and worse.
Also, the society in which we live has this notion that everybody should mind their own business, regardless the cost. The problem with that notion is that the "problem" gets bigger if left unchecked.
It reminds me of the "elephant in the livingroom" syndrom. Everybody knows it’s there, but no one talks about it. Left in the livingroom, one day that elephant will stampede. I wonder if, when that happens, people wish they’d talked about it? What idiot came up with the notion of everyone minding their own business? We are, indeed, our brother’s keeper.
