How do you avoid the office psychopath ?
"Does an office psychopath typically meddle, disregard existing mitigation plans, then come in as a hero …?… to "rescue" a failing project. If project is failing it is only because of the office psychopath’s involvement. The office psychopath’s concept of "rescue" bears no relation to the project’s original mitigation plans."
"That’s how the really good psychopaths make it to the top. Notice how many of them are at the top. The good news is there are also good-guys at the top. Work with them as much as possible and let them see how good you are and do your best to avoid the office psychopath, while being professional and polite. Office psychopaths can be dangerous and since they practice their evil constantly the first mistake the well-meaning person makes is to tangle with them.Think of this credo and follow it. I found it in a book, the source was anonymous:"Knows but doesn’t know he knows, asleep; wake him up.Knows he doesn’t know, teach him; good man…
… Doesn’t know he doesn’t know, a fool, avoid him.Knows he knows, wise, follow him."The office psychopath doesn’t know he doesn’t know. What separates him from the fool is that he tricks people into believing he’s the expert – and they promote him! Source(s):Horrible experience. "
Terrific advice.

Fake having a cold and cough snot all over him/her whenever they get close to you. Make sure and apologize. Pretty soon they will avoid you like the plague!
Farting also works but unless you are really talented you will soon run out of gas! LOL

The psycopaths I’ve always observed are the employers themselves. Steering clear of them is always tricky. Never volunteering is something I learned in the Army.

No, no, no. YOU have to be the office psychopath, that’s how you get ahead. If you are good at what you do, that’s just an added bonus, you need to learn the psychopath game and strategy and emulate it.
Personally, I align myself closely with them (keep you enemies close) and try to outdo them at their game.
It’s hard, if you’re worth your salt at all, your efficiency will be a disadvantage to you. Try, try and try again.
Remember the adage, it’s not who wins or looses (who does work or doesn’t) it’s how you LOOK playing the game
