What are signs that someone may become a serial killer?

This is an important question. I know abusing animals is one childhood sign. What are others? Setting fire to things? Just things in general, or living things? Is that another sign? I don’t KNOW a serial killer, this is just research and I need any information I can get. Hey, tell me everything you know about serial killers. Thanks!

Who was the French doctor that was guillotined for mass murder?

He was convicted of multiple murders after the discovery of the remains of 26 people in his home in Paris after World War II. He is suspected of killing more than sixty victims during his life.

What’s the difference between a psychopath, sociopath, anti-social disorder, and dissocial disorder?

I know many say they’re the same thing, but I’ve heard that experts say they’re not. Psychopathy and sociopathy are not in the official psychiatric disorders, although they do have diagnosis for those two informally outside of psychiatry. What’s the difference between these four? I’ve heard that in some cases, someone can be a psychopath, but not anti-social personality disorder or a sociopath, etc.

How does someone become a serial killer?

What has to go wrong in their childhood for them to become a serial killer? What personality disorders must they have?

What exactly goes wrong?
Crazy B*tch, I’m not talking about down syndrome.

What is the difference between a Serial Killer and a Mass Murder?

What is a detailed definition of these two groups of people? Why do some professionals seem to interchange these two groups when referring to Serial Killers?
I was hoping someone would expand on what I had already found from research.

Mass murders tend to kill multiple people in a single incedent. They rarely chose their victims based on any specific perferences. Such as same sex or hair color. Their killings are usually attention based (Danny Harold Rolling).

Serial Killers react to the thrill of the chase. They sometimes fantasize for years about the the type of victims and the method of the kill before they act upon the urges. MM’s tend to stick to a perticular type and sex rarely changing. Although their ritual may not change it will mature over time making it harder to catch solve the murders. As children they usually show little emotion or empathy when causing others pain or distress. They do however learn early to mimic others emotions to blend in and escape detection.

Who was the first serial killer in recorded history?

HH Holmes and others are usually cited as the first serial killers, but I’ve also read that as far back as the 1600s – the Blood Countess – of Hungary was regarded as a serial killer. Anyone have an earlier documented, defined serial killer?

What is the difference between a Psychopath and a Sociopath?

I’d like to know how a Psychopath is different from a sociopath.

Who is the serial killer on True Blood according to the books it’s based on?

Has anyone read the books? Can you share the identity of the serial killer who has so far killed Grandma, Dawn, and Maudette?

What compels a person to commit mass murder?

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the Columbine killers, Cho Seung-hui and Tyler Peterson, the Wisconsin sheriff’s deputy, all shot and killed multiple people over perceived slights. How could people just take some guns and decide to do this? Were these people just born wrong in the first place? Some people I suppose, have an innate violent nature about them, what Michael Vick and dogfighters would call "game", I suppose.

Any experience with potential psychopaths that you all can share? Have you been afraid of anyone? Do you understand the mentality?
