I found several examples where when contrasted to a human, animals have a spiritual meaning like the ant is a worker, the horse symbolizes strength, sheep a believer, etc. There seems to be many more – dogs, pigs, hedgehogs, lion, etc.
Why and what is the symbolism of animals in ancient holy writings
Ok this is going to sound unbelievable, but my neighbor’s butchered chickens in their backyard yesterday. And before you ask, I do not live in a rural area, I live in Alexandria VA in a very expensive residential townhouse community. The people in question recently moved into a duplex that borders our community. I called the police and they said they can’t keep chickens but there is no law against butchering them. However if I can catch them next time with the live chickens right before they kill them, then call and they will come out. But after they are dead, no crime. Come ON! This can’t be right. Next can they start bringing in cattle and pigs and start processing them? Does anyone have any idea where I can start lodging complaints? This is unreal and I am totally freaked out about it.
To those of you who tell me to mind my own business I say this. It is hard to mind your own business when you can’t walk out in your backyard without seeing butchering.
To those of you who tell me it’s just a chicken. I agree. I grew up in a rural community. But people I know didn’t kill livestock in their backyard. They either took them in for butchering to a shop or did it away from the house. This is third-world crap and because we live in such close proximity, it can’t be health for them to be washing blood and guts all over our adjacent property. Come on. If they want to be rural "folk" then move to the country.
Yeah gunplumb…that is my dog..Point?. But I clean up after her and don’t wash her waste into other people’s yards…And guess what..if I didn’t clean up after her there are laws that protect my neighbors. And guess what else, I bet if the neighbors start butchering dogs in the backyard, your response might be slightly different.
Thanks for everyone who gave helpful answers. I am finding help on the health department website.
To the rest of you, I give up. I think I’m outnumbered and most of you think I shouldn’t be offended. I’m also thinking that you never worked hard, saved, and invested 0,000 to buy into a nice area only to have the Beverly Hillbillies move in next door. I hope I don’t have to resale soon. Butchering neighbors are not a good selling point.
is it wrong to be eating dogs since it is their culture to be doing that.
I have 2 dogs on a farm with horses. They both eat the horse manure and cat feces. I tell them "no bad dog drop it" and they do but they just wait a few minutes and go back again. I am looking for a permanent fix. It gives them horrible gas and rotten breath. Plus that’s how they gets worms.
Anyone else have this problem and actually solve it?
How much money would it take to start out? I want to provide a rescue for dogs the kill shelters are ready to put down and place them in good homes. Im in northern Indiana. I dont want to just become an animal collector, I want to actually help them. Any advice or tips or experience would be appreciated!
I want to become an Animal Cop so i can try to stop animal creulty, but im not old enough.
Any ways i could become one when im older?
That is the one thing i want to be because people think they can get away with abuse and murdering innocent animals!
All i know is if someone tried to hurt one of my dogs, i will hurt them!
Also,
1. Animals operate by instinct. What do you descover about yourself as the animal takes over you?
2. What psychology for a person can you evolve from the animal’s behavior and reaction? Particularly in dogs.
Thanks in advance!
i have lots of birds. other seed feeders, nectar feeders and a water source. the birds however, have not even nibbled the suet hanging in the tree by the other feeders. any ideas?
my other feeders need to be filled every 3 days or so. my kitty is indoors and my dogs don’t bother the birds. i actually have doves in my yard that eat seed on the ground so i don’t think predators are the problem.
to byron 1015 : i don’t know what you classify as songbirds but there are many birds that enjoy suet. brown thrasher, northern mockingbird, house wren, chickadee, blue jay, and purple finch to name a few.
Are we only allowed to eat ugly animals? Not that I want to eat dogs or cats, mind you, but why the discrepancy?
I have many free time on weekdays and weekends.I usually use yahoo answers and play games but I enjoy taking care of birds, cats, dogs, fish,
turtles, and rabbits (Almost all animals).I am 12 and I would like to volunteer for anywhere that needs help like animal shelter or bird shelter (If it exists).I enjoy taking care of bird mostly where can I volunteer? Any websites to find it? Thanks!
Note: I live in Southern California (Anaheim) if that matters.
