A long time ago, I had a colony of males and females, but recently I’ve started keeping them again. I’ve noticed that the males will hop on top of each other and make the noises/feather movements that in the past, the ones would do while mating.
Is it normal for them to try and mate with each other? I have ONLY males in the cage (Don’t want to worry about babies.
) and I know they are all males. I just thought this was pretty.. odd behavior.
My dad and I were talking and we started talking about cows and i realized that cows have four nipples but can only have two babies…they can have four but it is like suppper rare.
Hi. I have been attempting to breed zebra finches for the last 4 months
or so. I had my first babies hatch 12 days ago. The parents abondoned
the two babies so i’ve been forced to handfeed them since they hatched.
I have a few questions that hopefully you can help me with about the
babies.
Question 1- They are 12 days old now and their eyes are not opened yet.
Is this something to be worried about?
Question 2- I have one chick that is smaller and less developed than the
other. This chick has a crop that never seems to empty and the crop
always look like its going to burst, even after 3 hours of not feeding
it(tried it once just for observation purposes) The chick always begs
for food and has no problem eating. I’m worried about the crop though as
it does not seem to be digesting properly. Any ideas on what to do for
the chick?
Question 3- The chick with the crop problem also appears to be
spay-legged. Is there anyway I can fix it?
They just laid eggs so we will have to wait till the babies are born and know how to fly?
Also we just bought this house from an old lady who says they have lived in the garage for over 7 years so this is generations of birds So Im don’t want to just kick them out in the cold .Should I just say screw it and let them live here forever?
They dont really bother me that much but I would like to close the holes they are getting into.
OKay so i have a proven pair of sun conures(have 2 clutches a year of 2 babies ) and a bonded pair of green cheek conures right now… I might get a proven pair of timneh African greys (have only had one baby in their life) what should i do?? sell the green cheeks and the sun conures to get the greys or just keep the birds i have and roll with that.
I have some questions, first thing I want to ask:
Is there a way to discourage breeding until I am ready for the babies? I try to keep the room they are in dark about half the day so they cant see each other. Will that help?
Another question:
Does Petsmart or Petco have any anti-fungal stuff for eggs?
Thanks for reading!
i’ve heard that when sheep are going into labor they will not eat.i this true for all sheep? and if the milk drops how long after could they have their lambs? my one sheep is going to have her babies at any time now and she started to grind her teeth today and her milk dropped. i was wondering if she could go for another day or so.
The ratio – Zebra danios:guppies:shrimp = 5:3(not including babies):1
will that work?
for the record, I don’t need an algae eater, i just want a ghost shrimp cuz they’re cool. and the baby guppies will be moved from the tank soon. and i only plan on 1 shrimp because i don’t want breeding.
But some moms feed their babies ice cream, cheese, etc, before age 1 when these all have cows milk IN them? I’m just curious, is it the same thing or what..
Yes I know that, but i’m asking if its okay to give babies yogurt and stuff with milk in them before they reach 12 months old..
ohhh gotcha!! thank you!
In the past week we’ve had about five dead birds and one live one brought in the house. I’m so tired of running from scared alive birds and cleaning up after dead ones. But I really don’t want to lock my babies (two dogs and two cats) outside all day and I don’t want them locked in at night or I’ll just be cleaning up their accidents. Plus I know that some of my pets are more active in the bird hunting than others… Any advice is much appreciated!
